Whitewater Rafting on the Gauley River

The Gauley River has achieved the reputation as one of the greatest whitewater rivers in the World. Anyone interested in rafting on this remarkable stretch of whitewater should consider West Virginia's premiere river outfitter ACE Adventure Resort.

ACE offers a variety of one and two-day rafting trips on the Gauley River to suit all skill and experience levels. For the ultimate in whitewater excitement, the Upper Gauley Section is the experience of a lifetime. On this section, rafters will encounter rapids like Sweet's Falls, a fourteen-foot cascading waterfall, or Lost Paddle, a full quarter-mile long Class V. ACE even offers Team Extreme trips in 12-foot rafts for groups of up to 5 passengers.

The Lower Gauley section offers exciting whitewater in a remarkable, wilderness canyon of exquisite beauty. Enjoy the 100 foot cliffs rising from the water in Canyon Doors Rapid and finish your day after navigating Pure Screaming Hell Rapid, the final Class V located just upstream of ACE's private takeout. One advantage to rafting with ACE on the Lower Gauley river is this take out, which negates an additional 3 miles of flatwater to the public takeout downstream.

ACE Adventure Resort offers a variety of rafting options on the Upper and Lower Gauley. They also run Marathon trips, which run both sections for an unbelievable 24 mile experience; and ACE offers a Double Upper Gauley trip for two runs on the Upper Gauley in one day.

Overnight trips are offered in a variety of packages also. A Reverse Overnight starts with a run down the Lower Gauley and riverside camping and dining at Sugar Creek one of the most beautiful and remote places on the Gauley. The following day culminates the experience with a run down the Upper Gauley.
